Hello! I’m Laura Martín, an illustrator originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, currently based in Berlin, Germany. I graduated as a graphic designer from the University of Buenos Aires, specializing in editorial design and illustration.
For more than seven years, I worked as a book designer in the children’s publishing world, always close to illustration, and falling in love with the visual language of storytelling. I always dreamed of being on the other side: creating the images myself. Over time, I pursued that dream, and today I have the joy of being an illustrator. My background in design provides me with a deep understanding of how images, layout, and narrative elements come together.
Today, I love bringing ideas to life not only through books but also through advertising and packaging. My inspiration comes from a diverse range of sources: nostalgia, friendship, music, world history, personal experiences, and simple, happy moments in life. I express these feelings through warm, cozy color palettes and harmonious compositions.
While I primarily illustrate digitally, I always keep my papers and pencils close by for sketching, maintaining a strong connection with the analog world.
When I’m not drawing, you can find me listening to 80s music, learning to play the piano, travelling and exploring new places, drinking coffee with friends, reading chronicles, or just spending time outdoors.
